What I Wore… 16th May 2014

Dress down Friday!!!! And Friday!!!! Whoooo!!!! Sunny weekend coming up, I’m so excited, can you tell? For dress down I went with my Asos jeans by Noisey May my COS coral jumper with a H&M basic vest underneath and my New Look brown suede boots.

For hair I backwards plaited the side of my hair, basically the same as a French plait but instead of crossing the strands over and into the middle you go under and into the middle. Then makeup I did the usual.

I was boiling on the tube! I had my sleeves rolled up to my elbows and there was a lady sitting down that actually wrapped herself more into her winter coat! It was incredible!

Have lovely weekends everyone!!!

What I Wore… 15th May 2014

Since it was actually sunny yesterday I had a little more faith in the weather forecast and went with another dress from Asos with tights from M&S and H&M shoes. I love this dress soooo much because it has pockets! They are so useful, I wish that more dresses have pockets! I know I sound a little like a crazy pocket lady… Sorry.

For hair and makeup I twisted a front section of hair and put on Topshop Show off lipstick and gel eyeliner and mascara.

Anyone else want to share their first steps into summer post a link below!

What I Wore … 14th May 2014

What a difference a day makes huh! That still makes me think of Scrubs. Today what you see is what I left the house in, no coat, no scarf, no other warming items. It looked lovely out the window this morning and the weather is still sticking with the mostly sunny verdict so I thought I’d risk it because I am such a rebel… I have my umbrella in my bag…

I’ve got on my H&M blazer, my Oasis t-shirt dress with an old belt that I think is from New Look, tights from M&S and my New Look lace up boots!

For my make-up I put on gel eyeliner and mascara.

Anyone else risk it this morning?

Weights Update

So we have finally found the reason for my appalling squat technique, my calves are too tight!

We were watching Sunday Brunch and they had on a guy who has developed a new exercise class called animal flow, a lot like capoeira each move led on to the next and it focused on using your own body weight to work you out. Anyway it looked good and they got the presenters to do a couple moves and I wanted to join in at home so I went to do the first move which was a crouch with your feet pointing forward, flat on the ground and your bum nearly touching your heels and I fell flat on my bum when I tried to do it! I just could not keep my feet flat as soon as my bum came down I would either pop my heels up or topple over! My boyfriend stood behind me and gave me step by step instructions on how to do it and then had to support me so I didn't fall again, hilarious…

So after many laughs and topples we worked out that it was my calves that were the problem we even did photo comparisons! When I do a squat my legs are pretty much a right angle because that is literally how far I can push my knees forward, they just don’t go any further. Not so for my boyfriend he can get to about 45. So I googled it and found a really good website, apparently its quite a common problem as we sit down so much for our work and it can cause problems all the way up to your lower back and hips. Now I stretch my calves whenever I'm on the stairs, it’s been 3 days and I'm doing weights again tomorrow so we shall see how quickly it improves.

Give the crouch a go! Its on the website I found and let me know if you have trouble too.

Birthday Brownies and Pistachio Ice Cream

When we went to Bumpkin my boyfriend got served his brownies and ice cream in a Kilner jar and he was amazed, he has that make at home and he kept joking that he would bring in his massive one and ask them to fill ‘er up so for his birthday I thought I would provide the brownie and ice cream and a massive Kilner jar.

The original! Bumpkin dessert, sooooo tasty

For the brownies I made one following the hummingbird recipe I used before just adding in chopped pecans as a little extra.

The other I went off piste…

I used milk chocolate instead of dark (don’t think I’ll make that swap again there is too much oil in the milk chocolate so the oil separated out from the mixture like in my carrot cake and freaked me out again, I had to send up a little prayer to the Bake Gods)

I then made up a batch of cookie dough using our favourite recipe from BBC good food. I got my tray dotted around the cookie dough and poured over a cascade of brownie mix and stuck it in the oven.

Adding a little extra milk to soften it up
It took a lot longer because it was about double the size but I didn’t need to turn the temperature down I just kept checking it with a tooth pick and it took about 25 minutes longer. It was really interesting how it turned out all the brownie sunk and formed a bottom layer and the cookie dough cover the whole top layer very tasty though!

For the pistachio ice cream I followed this recipe from BBC, of course. I put in all the pistachios instead of saving some and I tried to used my ice cream maker, it’s the one were you put the base into the freezer but I think it was a little too much for it to handle and I should have done it in batches. Instead I put the mixture into a container and stuck it in the freezer till it was solid and volia ice cream!

I actually had to give him this feast a day after his birthday because we ate so much on the day and he did refrain from eating a whole massive Kilner jar of supped up calories and went with a bowl instead as we have a holiday coming up and I got a big thank you kiss.. and then a bowl of brownie and ice cream!!!

What I Wore … 13th May 2014

I haven’t worn this Zara jumper for ages!!! I’m so happy to be back home, with all my options! I wore it with my Asos jeans and basic black vest and my Zara flats. I love how the weather report is saying mostly sunny in the morning and I look outside and there is just a mass of dark, grey, gloomy, dramatic clouds, I ain’t no fool! It’s going to rain!!

I actually was going to do something to my hair today but was too sleepy this morning to be bothered!

What I Wore … 12th May 2014 + Happy Birthday Dad!!!

I have limited clothes at my boyfriend’s, I have one shelf and a couple hangers and that does not afford you too many outfit choices. I also forgot I had no decent trousers at his so I washed and wore my Forever 21 patterned trousers again, this time with a plain black COS tee, my Topshop black love jumper and my New Look suede boots. I also didn’t get round to a Forever 21 shop but promise I will soon and to let you know my purchases.

It was my Dads birthday!!! He is Old! But I got a very sweet card and made him a massive cake and got him some good presents so hopefully he had a great day!!! Happy Birthday Dad!

Another Day, Another Runner

We are totally in the groove now. I don’t have to be dragged out the house to go running anymore and we are like super fast and recover much quicker than we did before! I am seriously impressed at how quickly you can improve your running once you get into a habit. I told my dad our time for 2.82km (13.35 minutes) and he was really impressed and I am too now because I did a treadmill run and only managed 2.57km in 20 minutes??? So I guess we know who the motivational runner is in the relationship, no wonder I'm dying when I get back on Saturdays!

It was such a lovely day last Saturday too we managed to run when there was sunshine I totally didn't need my hoody. Really regretted having such a big bowl of cereal for breakfast I think I have learnt my lesson to have small meals before exercise it is not worth the stitch and extra dead weight!

Oh and don't forget to stretch after exercise only, before actually hinders you - it has been proven!

Anyone else get active this weekend?

Stretching my calves on the curb

What I Wore … 9th May 2014

It’s back again! I’m glad I warned you. My COS stripy jumper!!! Worn with my Forever 21 patterned trousers. I keep meaning to do an online shop at Forever 21 but never getting round to it, I think I’ll sit myself down this weekend and crack on. They have so many nice holiday pieces and I have a holiday in a month!! I’ve also got on a vee tee from Zara with leather look cap sleeves and my New Look suede boots because I got a new heath app called Argus, it tracks your steps through your phone and I’m trying to do 6,000 today so I wanted comfy shoes. Does anyone make 10,000 steps a day without purposefully going on a walk to get steps? If so I want to meet you! I don’t care where in the world you are I’m coming! Oh and my necklace it from Urban Outfitters.

For hair and makeup I did a backwards French plait down the middle of my head put on mascara and Rimmel with Kate Moss red lipstick using my real techniques brush. I’m a little bored with my lipsticks now I think I’m going to head to Topshop for another sometime soon.

What I Wore … 8th May 2014

To redeem myself from yesterday I wore my favourite smart top a black and white stripped number from M&S with an Asos black vest underneath as it is a tiny bit see through, my Asos black jeans and my New Look black lace up boots. I think I may be sticking with New Look for all my boots now they are the ones that seem to fit the best… and last… and are the least expensive – win, win, win.

For hair and makeup I plaited a front section of my hair and pinned, put on mascara and Topshop Rio Rio lipstick!

And now I have to cover up so I don’t freeze in the office, oh and it’s meant to rain ALL day. Not cool!

A Whole New World

This Monday after many, many weeks of persuasion I finally gave in and went swimming on my lunch break.

I didn’t want to for ages because my swim costs £5.25 (the locker takes my 20p!) and so I always feel like I should get my moneys worth and spend a long time in there but it seems to magically and significantly cut down my evening which I find very annoying. You barely get home before you have to be in bed! I also never though I could actually manage it in time what with blow drying and putting makeup back on etc. I was 7 minutes late back but for my health I think everyone at work will let that go... fingers crossed!

I did 30 minutes swimming of four lengths breast stroke then two lengths front crawl, another thing I have been forced into, and so I was actually able to keep track of how many lengths I did, drum roll …… 50!!!!! I forgot how hard front crawl was, it was not enjoyable but I’m hoping to be quicker next time and do 56 lengths or at the very least 52. I think this maybe a serious lifestyle change. Swimming lunch breaks are a hit!

Any one else hit the gym at lunch or are superhuman and go before work?

What I Wore … 6th May 2014

I wore my little red dress from M&S, I love the zip detailing, I like how it makes your legs look a little bit longer as it pulls up at the side and the cut at the bottom make it feel a bit sixties so I always feel grown up when I wear this on its own. I paired it with my old Topshop red jumper, didn’t fancy looking too grown up today, and black tights and my New Look brown suede boots.
