Sing to Me ... Avicii and Audra Mae

I love this song from Avicii with Audra Mae on vocals called Addicted to me. I also love the video that goes with it. It's something new and a dance song with something more to it than just a beat and Audra Mae sings it so well. Video below from the AviciiOfficialVEVO channel.

What I Wore … 3rd April 2014

I wore my bodycon black Asos dress with slight gathering at the middle although I couldn’t get a good picture of that bit sorry! My red Topshop jumper because it is cold in the office. Tights from M&S. My New Look brown suede boots.

Hair and make-up I did a small plait right at the centre of my parting and pinned it back with curby grips and I did a thin layer of Topshop Beguiled lipstick using my real techniques by Samantha Chapman brush.

What I Wore … 1st April 2014!!!

I wore my Asos high waited blue jeans. My old forever 21 see-through flower top. My black Asos basic top underneath. My black M&S cardigan. My brown suede New Look boots, still loving these cut out ones from Topshop but its silly to have two really similar pairs of boots right? Ooooh maybe they come in another colour like a deep green or a burgundy!

Amazing Head and Footboard Bed

So I found this wonderfully styled bedroom on pinterest and fell in love with the bed because of its simple but elegant head and footboard design and I think I found it on Wayfair! I should have guessed that I would there is soooo much stuff on that website but I would recommend searching the internet for the thing you've found as I have found both things I bought from there much cheaper elsewhere.

The picture on pinterest is from the blog justinetaylor.tumblr.com and the bed picture is from wayfair.co.uk

Sing to Me ... Eve and Pusha T

I haven't listen to this song in ages and then I went out for drinks and they were playing it but only the Pusha T section had words, they had cut Eve out of her own song! So I thought I would even it up a little by putting it on here. I do love the Pusha T verse and I think it was a great song for Eve to come back with and I love the tune.

Bumpkin Westfields

The other day we got to go to an incredible little restaurant that just added a new location, its third, to Westfields at Stratford . Bumpkin has stayed true to its roots and offers up British classics like fish and chips and chicken pie but also does British twists on American dishes like the burgers and milkshakes, their version is more of a frappuccino.

The first time I went I got the burger which was delicious, you have to try the guacamole it is incredible and get the chips they are so moreish! However my heart really lay with the baby back ribs. I knew I was going to get messy and I didn’t want to have to be the only caveman at the table so I recruited in my boyfriend and we headed back. You can also get ribs for a starter but we were there for the main course and they came out on a wooden board with two rib racks stacked and a sprig of rosemary on top. I love eating with my hands probably because it’s such a novelty and I definitely got to do that here and get a little messy along the way. The ribs were amazing the meat pulled off cleanly the marinade was flavourful even though it did get a little too sweet towards the end, it maybe needed a touch of mustard and more rosemary to bring that down and make it even more British but I totally wanted another set when I got to the end of mine. Luckily we had both spicy wedges, I was thankful we got offered mayonnaise because they pack a spicy little punch after a couple, and chips, salty, crispy and delicious, to fill me up and prevent me going back for more!

Then just when we thought it couldn’t get any better we ordered dessert! I went for a brownie, it was all that I could squeeze in, and asked for it warm and I was soooo happy I did it came gooey and chocolately and made me ahhhh in appreciation. Next time I’m getting ice cream too! The other side of the table was a dessert heaven, on the menu it offered to wrap up part of it so you could take it home or recommended you share and it disappeared in about 2 minutes, maybe less I was distracted by a brownie. Part came in a Kilner jam jar, similar to a Mason jar, that was filled with brownie, ice cream and caramel sauce and then you had three mini jam doughnuts, with a definite British twist, on the side and it was all so tasty! I am very lucky to have found a guy that doesn’t mind giving me a taste.

So what I have learnt from my two trips to Bumpkin; go with someone you don’t mind getting messy in front of so you can get the ribs, don’t get the milkshakes somethings are better American, always get chips and order the biggest dessert on the menu because it is all delicious. Oh and get ready to go back again because there is so much stuff to try, next time I think I am going to have to try out a pie.

Swimming!!!!

I have finally got my lazy bum back into the swimming pool and I took photographic proof!

I hate that first one back after having been away for a couple weeks, cough... months, and yes it was really hard work for the first 15 minutes till I got used to it and I did swallow way to much water because I didn't pull my head out far enough and no I am totally not looking forward to tomorrow when I will be aching even though I religiously stretch after BUT I love going swimming! You just feel so good when you have finally got your stroke back and its one of the only sports when I really, really push myself, all the others I cave as soon as I feel the burn/stitch/concentration fatigue so it has been very good to get back in and as one of the main sources of my exercise it was about time! See below for a wet towel, swimming costume and goggles!

Spotted Easter Lemon Drizzles

I went to a friends fund raising clothes swap this weekend, she is off to India with two friends to do  some good and then go travelling and I got asked to make some baked good for the occasion.

I used my trusty lemon drizzle recipe from bbc good food. I added some poppy seeds because I love the look of them and I also added some zest into the drizzle and heated it (about 5 minutes of gentle bubbling) as I like the kick and it makes it a bit syrupy and sticky.

Then I went crazy with my food colourings!! I got them all for Christmas, they are from Wilton, I tried out a couple others and Wilton were definitely my favourite. I diluted my colours with some lemon juice. I went with red, purple,  blue and green. To make I put a teaspoon full of batter into the silicon cake tin (I got it for my birthday and have been way too excited to try it out it!) and then a couple drops of one colour then the batter again then a different colour and repeat! Simples!

Good tip for this recipe is the curdling one; when adding the egg to the sugar butter mixture if it begin to go lumpy and curdle add a tablespoon of flour and mix to get it back to a smooth constancy then just take out a tablespoon when you measure the full amount of flour in the next step. Also as I was making cupcakes instead of a cake I found I could just dunk the tops of the cupcakes into the drizzle it was so much quicker and the syrup sinks in better!

Everyone love lemon drizzle I have yet to come across someone who doesn't. I also love getting to use lots of colour especially now it is coming to spring and this is a really easy and quick recipe to do. Hope you give it a go!

Battersea Power Station

Pictures have been released for the plan of what Battersea power station will look when it has been fully renovated. They also released the prices which are sooooo high!

I love that they haven't made it 100% modern and new and covered up the original features of the building and they also use the brick work and industrial windows as a focal point. There are some great spots of colour, I would have like a little more in my home but it is a great show home to start people off. I am completely in love with the bathroom design I think its so cool but I hope they have a shower tucked away somewhere! Pictures below. Related article here

What I Wore… 28th March 2014

My leather look dress I got in the sale at Oasis, similar in the sale on now. Tights from M&S. My Pull and Bear wedge trainers, these available in the sale. I have also borrowed a jumper as I had no decent ones left so I am wearing a guys multi knit jumper from ASOS. My statement necklace!

For my hair I’ve been reading a lot that you should use dry shampoo before you go to bed so I tried that and then brushed it this morning. Can’t really tell a difference but it’s one less task to do in the morning!
