Giant Chocolate Gruffalo

We went for a boring trip to Sainsburys last weekend to get stuff for packed lunches (may have also stopped off at the Easter egg aisle but they are only around once a year you need to start early!) but we discovered a giant chocolate Gruffalo and got to taste some of the chocolate he was made of!

Created by Thorntons he will be touring various Sainsburys in the next couple weeks. He was very impressive and had a little speech bubble asking for people to be careful around him, also made of chocolate! He was accompanied by someone from Sainsburys and Thorntons who told us all about him and gently let us down about the fact that he wasn’t going to be coming back so we could eat him. Check out the photos!

Saturday Dogs

Last Saturday we got invited to go to see the dogs at Crayford, for £8 you can sit up in the balcony bar to watch the whole thing in the warmth and you get a full English breakfast, you’ll have to imagine it I’m afraid I didn’t think about taking a picture until it was all in my belly, it was delicious by the way, exceptional hash browns!

It went from 11 to 2.30 with 14 races. You got a booklet when you sat down with the race information laid out, the dogs, their previous times, owners, what races they have done before and most importantly their names, you can totally pick a winner by their name… I am a horrendous better so I let other people take the lead and kept hold of my shrapnel.  We had a couple wins and a lot more losses but it was fun to watch and pretty addictive you definitely start to try and find a lucky routine.

It was great to see how happy the dogs were at the end when they get to catch the rabbit and I had lots of fun trying to get a good action photo. Both an easy way to win and lose money but a nice way to spend a Saturday morning especially with the sun out and when you get a cooked breakfast thrown in! Pictures below

Chelsea Buns!!

Last Saturday I made myself some Chelsea bun minus the icing, I followed a Paul Hollywood recipe from the bbc website and I think they turned out pretty well.

I topped them with a lot of jam which I wanted to get really sticky but I think I laid it on a bit too thick, it was my mum’s homemade apple jam so I don’t feel too bad about that! Instead of the fruit suggested I got a big bad of mixed fruit which had the ones recommended and also a couple extra. I loved putting orange zest into the filling it added a needed kick.

I think next time I would add extra cinnamon or add extra sugar and cinnamon and make a paste with the melted butter and spread that on the dough, I wanted to taste and see it a bit more than I did.

Overall though it’s definitely a recipe worth keeping and they were pretty easy to eat too, I thought that dried fruit would go everywhere!

Asos Spring Edit

I am sooooo happy for spring to be here but I am sooooo not prepare for if the weather does cheer up a little. I have no idea what happens to my clothes but they seem to disappear after a year or have just been worn as winter stuff for so long I can’t imagine them any way else. Either one I think now is a good time to get prepared and sort myself out with a spring wardrobe.

I want a spring with lots of flats because I am sick of writing and wearing my Topshop black boots and I want them to be colourful! I love ripped jeans, they are on the top of my spring hit list, cute t-shirts, Chanel like tweet jackets and oversized blazers. I want bright, statement and also girly, floral dresses, patterned trousers and pastel jumpers to wear underneath jackets. I’m not going to get carried away with the sunshine so I am also planning to get some cheery scarves and casual hats to keep me warm.

Trying to keep all those in my head I did an Asos spring edit, my choices below!

Also found a funny article on the BBC about when spring actually starts. It has definitely sprung by now don’t worry.
